Deacon Bob Schwartz

Deacon Bob Schwartz

Deacon Bob and his wonderful wife, Barbara, have been married for over 52 years and live in Chesterfield Township. They moved there in 1997 when they built their new dream home to better accommodate their “empty nester” status and the rather rapid growth of their family through matrimony and child birth. All six of their children, one girl and five boys, are grown, college educated, and happily married. They have 13 delightful and talented grandchildren ranging in age from 4 to 20. The girls out-number the boys 7 to 6.

During his professional career Deacon Bob held executive management positions in engineering, manufacturing and sales/marketing in several large corporations. His engineering education was obtained at the Universities of Dayton (BME) and Wisconsin (MSME). Executive management education was attained at Michigan State University (MBA). The academic portion of formation for the diaconate was obtained at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.

Deacon Bob retired from secular employment in 1999, after 37 years in the transportation industry. He was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Detroit three year later on October 5, 2002. His first diaconate assignment was to the people of St.  Jane Frances de Chantal Parish in Sterling Heights where he served for the first eight years after ordination. In July 2010 Deacon Bob rejoined Father Gerry, and now serves the community of Guardian Angels Parish in Clawson.
