Steve Petty

Steve is happily married to his wife Marylee.  They make their home in Royal Oak, where they live with their three wonderful children.  While Steve has served Guardian Angels as a Pastoral Associate since 2006, his wife Marylee teaches English at Bishop Foley Catholic High School in Madison Heights.

Steve is a native Michigander.  After high school, Steve joined the United States Air Force where he served from 1985 until 1989.  After his time in the military, Steve entered the religious congregation of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary in August of 1990, where he studied philosophy and theology for five years. After leaving the seminary, Steve came back to Michigan in 1995 and decided to finish his degree in theology at SS Cyril & Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, where he earned his Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry in May of 2001.  In 2013, after continuing his education, Steve graduated with his second graduate degree from SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary, earning a Masters Degree in Theology.   Steve also has his National Certification in Pastoral Ministry through the Archdiocese of Detroit.  He has been serving the Catholic Church as a Pastoral Associate for over 22 years.

In addition to being a devoted family man, Steve enjoys reading (mostly literature and spiritual books), writing, sports and the outdoors (particularly hiking).  His biggest love, besides his family, is helping people better understand their faith and developing their relationship with God.

He appreciates the opportunity to help the students come to know the goodness of God and how much God loves each and every person. He enjoys the opportunity to help children know God’s love so much that in the summer he runs Camp Sancta Maria, a Catholic summer camp.

In his free time he enjoys walking to the park with his wife and daughter, playing basketball, and reading.
