Fr. Tony Richter

Fr. Tony Richter was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, the fifth of eight children (his youngest sister passed around the age of three).  He attended St. Stephen’s Parish, Grade School, and High School.  He attended Michigan State University and graduated in accounting in 1987.  While working in the business world, he headed youth groups in Southwest Detroit.  He entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, in 1996.

In June of 2003, Fr. Tony was ordained a priest and assigned to St. John Neumann Parish in Canton with responsibilities at All Saints School in Canton.  After two years, he was named pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels in Southwest Detroit and worked with Our Lady of Guadalupe School.  In 2008, he became the pastor of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish and School in Lincoln Park.  From 2014-2018, he also served as the pastor delegate of Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview.  

During the summer of 2018, Fr. Tony was assigned to Guardian Angels Parish and School.  He also has responsibilities at Bishop Foley High School.   He enjoys spending time with his family.  Fr. Tony enjoys running, basketball, friends, and is an avid Lions, Tigers, and Michigan State University fan!

He is greatly inspired by the faith and love for the parish family of Guardian Angels and Bishop Foley Catholic High School.
